Morning fire damages Allston cafe - Local News Updates - The Boston Globe
An early morning fire caused $350,000 in damage to Cafe Belo in Allston, officials said.
The two-alarm fire at 181 Brighton Ave. started around 4 a.m. in the kitchen ceiling, Boston Fire Department spokesperson Steve MacDonald said. It took firefighters about 4 hours to put out the blaze at the one-story building.
MacDonald said there were no injuries, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
Jeee... We were just planning to go there for lunch tomorrow. Let's hope that they will rebuild quickly!
ReplyDeleteDude, this is economy driven arson. The place was kinda ghetto anyway.
ReplyDeleteFood was really good, and place was always very busy...Don't think it was economy fire. Went for lunch today to find the place closed. People outside said they would rebuild.

My first thought too. The place always had people hanging out against the walls outside and all over the parking lot, it was a real skeevy look. Hopefully if they rebuild they can put some tables and chairs outside so it wouldn't look so slummy.
Skeevy? Complete nonsense. It was a great place, perfectly clean.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely loved the food there, went often enough that the staff recognized me. I'm glad to hear they're not going away completely. Rebuild fast, Cafe Belo! I'm hungry!
Maybe it was nice inside, but the atmosphere outside left a lot to be desired. Public parking lots aren't living rooms.
