One of Harvard's 6 proposed public realm community benefit projects is new streetscape along Holton Street across from the Star Market loading dock.

The green line in Harvard's map shows this streetscape improvement continuing along the backyard of the two-family home that Harvard owns at 208 Everett Street at the intersection of Holton and Everett.

But isn't this a strange place for a streetscape improvement? Harvard recently installed this white fence and the opportunities to make this stretch of Everett Street lovely seem limited at best.

i think maybe they should put a parking lot there and then four fences around it to be sure the parking lot is protected. that would transform and activate that space in a very non vehicularly oriented way. it will really enliven the space.

That steel fence was perfectly fine. Harvard should have used the money to replace the dead trees on Western Avenue.

I would be very pleased if Harvard can make this stretch of Holton Street more attractive. It's a major pedestrian route for people from the St. Anthony's neighborhood who are shopping at Shaws or who want to take the new greenway from Holton straight up to Herter Park (and thus avoiding walking down Everett Street.

Nice for adults, nice for kids...if Harvard can improve this area, it has my thanks.
