Menino proposes regulations and fees for newspaper boxes

This is not the First Amendment issue that the newspapers are trying to make it into. It is just about keeping our neighborhoods clean and decent. The Metro's marketing director says these boxes are the "lifeblood" of the their distribution. How about having a little bit of pride and keeping your "lifeblood" looking respectable? This photo shows some of the disgusting mess of boxes that litters the Harvard Ave sidewalk in front of Herrell's - the Metro's box is the second from the left.
