Hub needs a bouncer law - Local & Regional - BostonHerald.com
...But all of that is moot for Brighton contractor Carl McManus, 33, who is now sporting an ugly black eye and seven stitches in his skull after he said he was beaten by a bouncer at The Draft in Allston.
Now police plan to seek complaints against the bar’s owner at Brighton District Court. “Following this incident the detective investigating the case sought a list of employees at the establishment. The owner was uncooperative,” said BPD spokeswoman Elaine Driscoll.

This is a case of irresponsible journalism. One case of bouncer-on-patron violence does not necessitate a law. If this particular bouncer had a criminal record that included assault charges, the writer might have a point, but we don't know that to be true. People get punched in bars all the time. Usually it's patrons hitting each other. Does that mean we should background check all patrons before we let them in the door?
