Early morning power outage

Based on my unscientific survey of people walking their dogs at Smith Field this morning, the power outage that struck early this morning probably affected several hundred homes in Allston and possibly Brighton. This is the 2nd power outage in the month of May.

A power outage hit over here in the Brighton Center neighborhood around 2:30 am.

I believe the first outage was caused by the guy who accidentally electrocuted himself on Dustin Street. Not exactly a service failure on the part of Nstar, if that's what you're implying.

  3. The news reports about the Mother's Day power outage were pretty strange - a man with a knife in an electric cable on Dustin St. Anyway, I live more than a mile from Dustin St so I don't understand how that incident would cause there to be no electricity in North Allston for more than an hour.

The TAB reported that the man inadvertently grounded himself when he touched the knife, and caused an explosion that shorted out power to 2,100 customers in Allston. NSTAR came out to repair and got power back up in an hour.
