A couple points here got my attention.

I look for candidates who can appreciate the complexity of issues and consider different perspectives, but it is important not to confuse nuanced thinking with playing both sides. This editorial says Ask Schofield about any issue, and he sees both sides of it. But consider a different take on that, published by the TAB in Mark Trachtenberg's June 29 column. The column described Schofield's response to an important question about the BRA as talking around the issue and concluded Hey, Tim, everybody knows you’re a very smart guy. Do your homework and take a firm stand.

Furthermore, the editorial commends Schofield for his involvement (after running unsuccessfully for state rep) in the Ward 21 Democratic Committee and Brighton-Allston Bicentennial Committee. Sure, except I prefer candidates who got involved in the community first, then ran to represent it.

The way I see it, what Allston-Brighton needs is a city councilor who has shown the courage to stand up for the best interests of the community and this endorsement doesn't describe the best candidate for that job.
